Hot hot hot

We are in the middle of a heat wave. Most unusual. In the shade yesterday afternoon at home it as 33.4 degrees and in the sun 35.5 degrees. The air con is working overtime to keep us cool inside. Its really hard when you are trying to work. No air con there just open the window and hope for some cross flow ventilation

This is the block that I have been hand piecing this week. Need to make another eleven so I could be a while.

Ohio Stars

These are some of the blocks that I have made lately.Just love the reproductions.

Tomorrow I'm going to UFO Day hosted by a member of my local quilt group. Onlt UFO's are allowed to be worked on. So I found one that I started in a class aa few years ago. Its a quilt as you go log cabin.
So tonight is housework night. I'm washing, cooking a loaf of bread and ironing. The wonders of modern technology!

This week I have also caught up with my healing hearts.

Warm and wnidy

Well tomorrow is Wednesday and from there it's down hill all the way to the weekend.

Todays photo is of Rexi. I was sitting at the computer a couple of nights ago and turned around to find her on the couch, its becoming a bit of a habit.

Tomorrow I need to get some brown vinegar and cook some beetroot. Its growing and they are huge. I can't keep up with them. I have been grating them on my salads raw. They are delicious. Also need to make some more Raspberry jam. Yum yum

Lazy Day

Not a great deal done today. I just pottered. Finished the jacket that I had started last weekend. I had to get more fabric due to my cutting blunder. Made a couple of blocks for a reproduction quilt that I am making and then did a little pot of raspberry jam.

Oops

At the weekend I started to make a jacket. I'd made one before and it worked out well. But this time I had directional fabric, so I had to make adjustments to the pattern layout. Great. I got all my fabric pointing in the right direction. Wrong!. When I went to start sewing I had forgotten to flip a pattern piece and ended up with two left fronts and no right front. Duhhh!

So todays photo is of the first jacket that I made.

Thank God its Friday

Paul and went to Hobart today. He had an appointment with the neurosurgeon. The outcome of todays appointment is another MRI and then an apointment next month with an ENT specialist to get his view on Pauls tumor. The experts will then confer as to the best way to operate.

We had a good run down and back.

Todays photo is of Paul. Its a fish that he caught late last year at LAke Barrington I think. I think the fish is an Atlantic Salmon

Windy Wednesday

I better hang my washing out. Might dry before I go to bed. Back in a jiffy. Thats done.

Paul had a call from the hospital today. Needs to be there at 11.00am on Friday. He didn't ask what for so, I don't know if its just to see the surgeon or to be admitted for his op. Will try to get hold of the hospital tomorrow and get a few more details.

Todays photo is of the results of a bag class that I did with Monica Poole in November. This is just some of the bags that were made. Mine is the pink and black spotty one.

Three days in a row

Well I'm being a very good blogger this year. Three posts in three days. A quiet day today. I came home to a nice clean and tidy house. My cleaning lady does a good job!! Paul has just called me from the river to let me know that he has caught a bream. Looks like fish for tea tomorrow.

Todays photo is of a couple of placemats that I made for two of my nieces for Christmas. Both are Amy Butler fabrics, one old from the stash and the other from her current range. I'm in a fabric collectors club at Picture Patchwork. I also made another one but forgot to take a photo of that one.

Windy Day

A very windy day here. Didn't realise how windy until I left work. Had an early start today and worked back for 30 mins too. Busy busy busy..

And I'm trying to keep busy at home too. That way I don't keep grazing when I'm not supposed to. Tonight I have cut out some Ohio Star bolcks for the quilt that I am making. Its called Tribute to Mrs Williams and it is a reproduction quilt. I purchased the pattern from Threadbear at Castlemaine.

Todays photo is of another quilt that I made from Mum. This one was for her eightieth birthday. All machine pieced and quilted

Bad Blogger and a Happy New Year

Well I shall have to change my ways and get back into posting on a regular basis. So here is my post for the day. I hope everyone survived the silly season, and didn't overindulge but if you did, I hope that you had a great time doing it.

This quilt is one that I made when I first started quilting. The blocks are hand pieced, then assembled by machine and then I hand quilted it. Most of the fabric is from material that Mum gave to me from her stash when I first started. I gave it to her for her birthday.
